(KTNC) -- The Steamboat Trace Trail will be closed later this week for the second rifle-hunting season.
Nemaha Natural Resources District officials say the entire 22-mile trail will be closed to all users – including hunters – from December 26 through January 18. The trail is closed as a safety precaution.
NRD officials stress that neither hunting nor the possession of weapons is allowed on the Steamboat Trace Trail. Anyone found on the trail while it is closed will be ticketed.
The Steamboat Trace Trail runs along a converted railroad right-of-way from just south of Nebraska City to just south of Brownville.
