(KLZA) Peru State College music faculty Dr. Jacob Bartlett and Dr. Thomas Ediger will perform a vocal/piano recital at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 in the Jindra Fine Arts Recital Hall.
The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
The 50-minute concert will feature works from an unpublished opera by Franz Joseph Haydn, the first song cycle in the history of the repertoire by Ludwig van Beethoven, the last compositions of Maurice Ravel and five songs by Gerald Finzi with poetry by William Shakespeare.
Bartlett, an assistant professor of music, joined the Peru State faculty in 2012. He serves as director of the Misty Blues Show Choir and teaches applied voice and music appreciation. Bartlett has performed extensively throughout the United States and world as a soloist, showcasing works from the early Renaissance to Schubert’s Schwanengesang.
Ediger, professor of music and director of choral activities, joined the Peru State faculty in 1979. He directs the Concert Choir and teaches courses in music theory, music history, music education and piano. He is an active performer, composer and piano and vocal clinician/adjudicator. His most recent compositions are The Land of Oops, a chamber opera for the Madrigal Singers, and Psalm 121 for choir published by Concordia Press.
