Missouri Officials Looking For Owner of Maitland Building Destroyed by Fire
(AP) - Investigators are sifting through the ruins of a northwest Missouri opera house after a suspicious fire while also looking for the building's owner.
The Maitland Opera House was destroyed by fire Saturday. Holt County Sheriff Scott Wedlock says investigators uncovered evidence Tuesday that is being analyzed by several forensic experts but he declined to elaborate.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports authorities are still looking for building owner Kenneth Rainwater, who has not been seen since Saturday. Rainwater, who lived at the opera house, was out on bond for charges of possession of child pornography.
Wedlock said two notes were found in Rainwater's car Saturday. One detailed his "military explosive experience" and the second said he would leave the country because "he couldn't get a fair trial."
