( KNZA )-A 46-year-old Missouri man was killed late Saturday night in an ATV accident near the Jackson County community of Delia.
Sheriff Tim Morse said the victim had been northbound on F Road, about 5-tenths of a mile north of 118th Road, when the 2013 Polaris ATV he was riding struck a deer. The ATV flipped and the driver was ejected.
Family and friends located the victim who had left a gathering near 118th and F Roads riding the ATV.
Morse says the sheriff’s department received a 911 call about the accident around 11:10 Saturday night. Responding to the scene were the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Potawatomi Tribal Police and Fire Department, Jackson County EMS, Hoyt and Mayetta Fire Departments.
The name of the victim hasn‘t been released yet pending notification of family.
The accident remains under investigation.
