Richardson County Board Approves Hiring Appraiser

 (KLZA) Richardson County Commissioners approved a request from County Assessor Pam Vice to advertise for the position of staff appraiser for the County Assessors Office when they met Tuesday. 

The hope is to have someone selected by July 1 at an annual salary of $41,600 with benefits.  This will be a 32- hour per week position at $25 per hour.

Architect Dennis Lyon of Lincoln met with Commissioners to discuss the necessary repairs needed at the courthouse to maintain the brick exterior.  Lyon introduced Edward Parr of Restoration & Waterproofing Contractors Inc. of Topeka, Kansas who accompanied Lyon on an inspection of the building exterior and parts of the interior.

Lyon will be preparing specifications for a bid proposal for the Board to review.  The specification are expected to be completed by late June. 

Emergency Management Agency Director Jim Gerweck requested approval to hire a person to fill a clerical position.  The position salary would be an expense that would be reimbursable through Nebraska Emergency Management Program Funds.  The request would be for 37.5 hours per week.  Commissioners tabled the request as submitted.

Gerweck also informed Commissioners that a groundbreaking ceremony will be held June 7th for the “safe house construction” at the Boy Scout Camp south of Humboldt.

Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert provided updates on Road and Bridge Department maintenance.  Also discussed with the hiring of part-time employees for seasonal work and training for employees who will operate the crane.

The Board also voted to give favorable comment to the Falls City Area Jaycees request for a special designated liquor license for June 21st for an event at the Jaycees arena south of Falls City along Highway 73.
