(KTNC) - The Auburn Downtown Revitalization Committee is sending a final request for applicants for Community Development Block Grant funds to rehab commercial structures in the downtown target area.
The city has a total of $32,925 remaining that can be put toward another project, or projects.
The grants can be used for three purposes. They can provide assistance in the design and construction of new or renovated building facades; provide financing assistance for building owners to meet city code requirements; and support the renovation of the exterior of downtown buildings, including things such as tuck-pointing and new windows.
Applications, target area maps, and program guidelines are available at Auburn City Hall. They are due back by Wednesday, June 12th.
In addition to the application, property owners also need to obtain a bid for the desired improvements and submit all documents to the City Clerk’s office by June 12th. Grant awards will be submitted to the City Council for approval at the July 8th meeting.
All work would have to then be completed by September 13th to receive funding.
Questions can be directed to Kim Beger at Auburn City Hall, at 402-274-3420, or Lisa Beethe at the Southeast Nebraska Development District office in Humboldt at 402-862-2201.
