(KTNC) - Building plans continue to take shape in the Johnson-Brock School District. The School Board discussed ideas with an architect, financial advisor, and district patrons during a special meeting Wednesday evening.
Superintendent Jeff Koehler says the district is pressed for space and needs to add classrooms to accommodate an increasing number of students. (play audio :32)
Koehler says the board took elements of all three ideas the architect presented and created a hybrid plan. (play audio :30)
Koehler says the project has grown from discussion on adding two classrooms to creating a larger science room and adding a library-media center, as well as addressing other space and security needs. (play audio :42)
In addition to the architect, Koehler says Cody Wicham with D.A. Davison, the company that holds the bond on the district’s new building, presented options to the board as to how to pay for an addition. Koehler says it’s the board’s goal to keep costs down while also meeting the district’s needs.
The architect will take the ideas discussed Wednesday and create new plans, and Koehler says he hopes to be able to present the new project plans in about two weeks.
