Atchison Woman Pleads Guilty to Welfare Fraud
04/15/2013

(KAIR) -- The quest set last winter by Atchison County Attorney Gerald Kuckelman to eliminate welfare fraud in Atchison County has proven to be an early success.

His first case received from the Kansas Department of Children and Families is now complete with the guilty plea of Mia McKelvey of Atchison Monday in Atchison County District Court.

With the plea, McKelvey also paid more than 10 thousand dollars in restitution to the state.

Sentencing is set for May 17th.

Kuckelman says another  welfare fraud case is currently moving forward, while two others are under review.
