Competency Eval Granted for Man Facing K2 Dealing and Trafficking
04/15/2013

(KAIR) -- A competency evaluation has been ordered for an Atchison man caught allegedly selling K2 to teenagers.

An Atchison County District Judge ordered the evaluation for Gabriel Walls Friday.

He faces charges of distribution of a controlled substance and trafficking contraband into a correctional facility.

Walls was arrested in late March by Atchison Police for allegedly trying to sell a substance believed to be K2 to teenage customers at McDonalds.

Later that evening after booking, Walls was caught allegedly smoking K2 in his jail cell, believed to be smuggled in with pages taken from a bible.

A status conference in the case has been set for April 26th.

This isn’t the first time Walls has been ordered to undergo a competency evaluation.

He was found incompetent to stand trial for charges in late 2011 and sent to Larned State Hospital for treatment.

Walls was later found competent to stand trial and was convicted on burglary and theft charges in mid-2012.
