( KAIR )--A 38-year-old Saint Joseph man who fled after allegedly leading Atchison Police on a chase last April is now in custody.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says Christopher Wilkerson was taken into custody earlier this week in Olathe and returned to Atchison Wednesday.
He faces charges of aggravated burglary and felony theft stemming from an April 23rd theft at the Atchison Wal-Mart store and March 31st theft at the store.
In addition, Wilkerson faces several traffic offenses stemming from the chase—including felony fleeing and eluding.
Police say the chase began after an officer attempted to stop a vehicle near 12th and Division, and ended when the vehicle became disabled on a set of railroad tracks.
Officers discovered several thousands of dollars in electronic equipment in the trunk of the car allegedly stolen from Walmart just prior to the chase.
Wilkerson fled the scene. Two others in the vehicle were arrested that night.
Wilkerson remains in the Atchison County Jail.
