(KAIR) -- School board members throughout the nation are being recognized this month for their service.
The annual School Board Recognition Month was created to show appreciation to the members and an opportunity to better understand how local boards work together to prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders.
These people are just ordinary citizens with day jobs.
One of those is USD 409 board member Diane Liebsch, who is Principal for Atchison Catholic Elementary School when she’s not in board or committee meetings.
She says her four years on the board have been a learning experience.

School districts are encouraging the public to thank a school board member, not only this month, but throughout the year.
