(KAIR) -- A hearing in the appeal of a 56-year-old man convicted of the first degree murder of an Atchison County man in 2001 has concluded.
The hearing for Kirk Wilson wrapped up Wednesday morning in Atchison County District Court.
It began Tuesday morning and included testimony from Atchison County Undersheriff Larry Myer and Wilson himself.
Wilson’s new attorney team of Patrick Edwards, David Eberson and Victoria Smith are asking for either a vacated conviction or a new trial.
They claim that Wilson’s attorney during his trial did not present sufficient evidence in the case.
Atchison County District Judge Robert Bednar will now examine evidence and testimony to make a ruling.
Usually most rulings in these instances are sent in writing to the parties involved in the case and Bendar listed no timetable as to when a ruling will be made.
Wilson was convicted in 2001 and sentenced to life in prison without parole for 25 years in the March 2000 shooting of Kurt Boldridge at his rural Atchison County home.
Three others were also charged in the case--including Boldridge's ex-wife.
Wilson unsuccessfully tried to appeal his conviction in 2006 to the Kansas Supreme Court.
