Fewer Traffic Deaths, More DUIs, in Missouri Over Christmas Holiday
(KTNC) - Two people were killed on Missouri roads over the Christmas holiday counting period.  Highway Patrol spokesman Tim Hull says that’s down from five fatalities last year.  (play audio  :17   “91 injuries.”)
While the number of fatal crashes was down over the Christmas holiday, Hull says the number of DUI arrests was way up.  (play audio  :19   “holiday counting period.”)
Hull says it’s hard to say whether the high number of DUI arrests is because more people were driving impaired, or whether saturation efforts and sobriety checkpoints were more successful.
The patrol will be out in full force again for the New Year’s holiday.  Hull says to plan ahead for a sober ride, and buckle your seatbelt.
