(KLZA) Richardson County Commissioners this week voted to approve an agreement with Ag Partners and Nationwide Agribusiness on a settlement for a bridge collapse Northwest of Humboldt on April 10th of this year.
The Board voted to release in full all claims with Ag Partners Cooperative for damages and collapse of the bridge. In the settlement the County will received $525,000.
The bridge over Long Branch Creek, located on 715 road between 631 Boulevard and 632 Boulevard collapsed when an oversized load crossed the bridge. Noah Dively of Hiawatha was operating a tractor, which was pulling an anhydrous applicator and two full anhydrous tanks. The equipment was owned by Ag Partners of Hiawatha which has a location in Humboldt.
According to the Richardson County Sheriff’s Department Dively attempted to pull the equipment estimated to weigh 20 –2 5 tons across the bridge rated at three tons. The equipment was too wide for the bridge and hit the bridge as it went across. The tractor, applicator and two anhydrous tanks went down approximately 20 feet into Long Branch Creek when the bridge collapsed.
