(KAIR) -- A 52-year-old former Lansing Correctional Officer pleads guilty to charges in Atchison County District Court.
Terry Botkin pled guilty Monday to the charges of second offense DUI and attempted arson.
Botkin was arrested July 16th by Atchison County Sheriff’s Deputies for driving under the influence in rural Atchison County.
Botkin was able to bond out later in the day, but authorities later learned a building at 9336 Jewell Road in rural Lancaster had been broken into and a generator was set on fire and there was an attempt to set fire other items in the building, including vehicles.
After further investigation, the Sheriff’s Department says Botkin was the individual that committed the attempted arson just prior to being stopped earlier that morning for DUI.
Botkin is out on bond and sentencing is scheduled for December 28th.
