(KAIR) -- Residents in Effingham may have to get used to going to their post office at a different time.
The results of a recent mailed survey to citizens by the U.S. Postal Service indicated that 94 percent of the 216 respondents preferred a realignment of hours.
A full house of citizens at the Town and Country Senior Center in Effingham learned those results in a public meeting Monday afternoon.
Effingham Post Office Operations Manager Kevin Billings says what’s on the table now is a slight cutback of hours.

The new proposed hours would be eight until three with the office being closed from 11 to 12 for the lunch hour.
On Saturday mornings, the new proposal is for it to be open from 10 until 11:30, instead of eight to 9:30.
The proposed changes has concerned longtime Effingham resident Nancy Keith.
She’s concerned that the small change now could lead to bigger changes down the road.

Billings says patrons will be notified of final changes with a notice outside the post office within seven days.
