(KAIR) -- A 32-year-old Independence, Missouri man is in custody on a charge of aggravated criminal sodomy of a child in Atchison County.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says Ronald Heavener was brought to Atchison County Wednesday after his arrest last week in Missouri.

He remains in Atchison County Jail on 250 thousand dollars bond.
County Attorney Gerald Kuckelman says the case falls under “Jessica’s Law,” mandating a life sentence if convicted with no eligibility for parole until 25 years are served.
He will make his next appearance in Atchison County District court Friday.
