(KAIR) -- A 53-year-old Effingham man was sentenced to life in prison on child sex charges Thursday in Atchison County District Court.
David Smith was sentenced under "Jessica’s Law", which stipulates a life sentence when the victim is under 14..
Smith will not be eligible for parole until he serves at least 25 years, and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
Smith was found guilty in February on three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
He was arrested in July of last year.
