08/28/2012

(KAIR) -- A 41-year-old Topeka man was arrested early Saturday morning on multiple charges after allegedly attempting to pass counterfeit money while trying to bond his girlfriend out of the Atchison County Jail.

According to Atchison County Undersheriff Larry Myer, an alert jailer said there was a different feel to various 20 and 10 dollar bills given to the department by Lance Greathouse.

As authorities investigated the incident, they learned the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer he was driving was reported stolen out of Council Grove, Kansas.

Myer says, upon seizure, they discovered a substance believed to be methamphetamine within the vehicle.

Greathouse was booked on charges related to counterfeiting, possession of stolen property and possession methamphetamine.

He remains in Atchison County Jail on 15 thousand dollars bond and will make his next appearance in Atchison County Court on September 7th.
