(KAIR) -- Two men are in custody after an attempted robbery of an elderly man Monday morning in Atchison.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson explains the arrests of 19-year-old Christopher “Tony” Smith of Windsor, Missouri and 20-year-old Matthew Newgent of Atchison.

The duo remains in Atchison County Jail awaiting bond and formal charges.
Wilson says police are currently investigating other cases believed to be connected to this incident.
