( KNZA )--Following a hand count of ballots today ( Wednesday ), there was no change in the outcome of the 2nd District Brown County Commission race with incumbent Republican Keith Olsen defeating challenger Roger Madere by a one-vote margin.
A 6-person board spent about an hour recounting the ballots cast in the race, and in the end the final tally remained the same as that recorded following a canvass of the ballots from the primary election on Monday.
13 provisional ballots were counted from the 2nd commissioner district during the canvass, putting the final tally at 218 votes for Olsen to 217 for Madere. A third candidate, Richard “ Dick” Geiger received 128 votes.
Madere requested the recount Tuesday and posted a $350 bond to cover the cost.
