(KNZA)--It's back to the basics this week in Jackson County, following last week's unique business for local law enforcement.
That's when the annual Jackson County Sheriff's Office “Kid Camp” was held(Play Audio)
That's Jackson County Sheriff Time Morse who says the camp this year hosted 208 campers, ranging in age from 6 to 12 years old(Play Audio)
Nearly 30 volunteers helped to oversee the camp which also featured an emergency vehicle display, courtesy of the sheriff's office and the Holton, Hoyt, Potawatomi Tribal, Jackson County Fire Departments, as well as Holton Police and the Potawatomi Tribal Police Department.
Morse says he's seen first hand the inspiration provided by the camp, watching one-time campers grow into local leaders(Play Audio)
Already planning for the 2013 day camp is getting underway, with Morse saying that the end of May, next year, should be noted on calendars as a good time to register for the annual event.
