Spring sports season coming to a close the state golf tournaments were yesterday and a few local area schools and individuals competed in the 2A and 1A state golf tournaments.
Over in Seneca at the Spring Creek golf course it was only one local area golf athlete competing in the 2A state tournament action. Immaculata's, Luke Russell after qualfiying for state went to the state tournament and finished tied for 44th place in 2A; he shot a 91 on the day.
In the 1A state golf tournament it was Linn, Valley Heights and Hanover that competed as individuals and/or teams in Hutchinson at the Hutchinson Highlands Country Club. Both Valley Heights and Linn competed as teams at the state tournament finishing seventh and ninth, respectively after their teams tallied scores of 434 and 475. The best individual performance of the tournament from the three area schools went to Brandon Dobrovolny who took home seventh place after shooting a 92, while Zak Voelker of Linn finished in the top 20, as he tied for 18th with a round of 97.
