The USD 377 school board will be facing a decision on whether they want to outsource their sports medicine contract or keep it in-house for the next school year.
The board Monday night learned they have a trained individual within the school system that may be able to handle the duties instead of going with their regular provider, Kansas Orthopedics.
Superintendent Steve Wiseman says either way, the issue has importance in keeping athletes safe.

The board also heard preliminary discussion on the KSHAA football re-classification vote.
ACCHS is currently the school in 3A in the highest enrollment and re-classification is being discussed to bring the bottom 16 4A teams down to 3A in football only.
Wiseman says he’s not in favor of the proposal.

The board also approved the leasing of two new buses, costing the district 140 thousand dollars after the trade-out of the two old ones.
The board also heard about long-term maintenance project proposals.
Wiseman says that includes 819 thousand dollars of improvements for the elementary school, 130 thousand dollars at the junior/senior high school and 14 thousand at the central office.
Of the 819 thousand, a majority of it is for the need of a new heat and air system.
The board is still prioritizing the projects that would get funded.
