DeKalb Man Pleads Guilty to Charge from Chase
05/02/2012

A 26-year-old DeKalb, Missouri man facing multiple charges stemming from an Atchison police chase in February enters into a plea deal.

Caleb Jones pleaded guilty Wednesday in Atchison County District Court to a felony charge of fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer.

In exchange, counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and six traffic offenses were dismissed.

Jones led police on a chase from 4th and Atchison to the west of the city limits that reached in excess of 70 miles an hour.

Since he committed five or more traffic infractions, the fleeing charge becomes a felony.

A passenger in the vehicle was attempting to sell marijuana at a house before police intercepted the deal.

That was Christopher Haskell, who pled guilty to the marijuana distribution charge in March and was sentenced to two years in prison in April.

As for Jones, he could face five to 17 months in prison.  Sentencing is scheduled for June 4th.

Jones is out on 10 thousand dollars bond.
