It was a Twin Valley League Tri track meet at Frankfort yesterday between Frankfort, Axtell and Linn. For the girls the Linn Bulldogs took home the team title, while the host school Frankfort Wildcats won the boys team title. Linn cumulated 75 total team points, utilizing nine first place finishes on the day also, including Nicole Ohlde who won three events, she was the only athlete on the day to win three individual events. Frankfort finished second place with 60 team points, with Axtell finishing third with 47. Ohlde, won three events two in the long distance running as she notched win's in the 800 and 1600-meter runs, while also throwing her way to victory in the shot put. Her teammate, Kendra Bargman swept the 100 and 200-meter dashes as she sprinted her way to wins in both events. Ohlde and Bargman weren't the only Bulldogs to tabbed multiple event crowns as the relay team for Linn took first in both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. Linn, on top of those event wins, saw Acacia Thalmann win the high jump and Rachel Bott win the triple jump. Frankfort took home five first place finishes on the girls side with one individual, Hali Stiner sweeping the hurdle events, gaining victories in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles. The other three event wins came on the field events side taking wins in the pole vault and the discus and javelin throws. Ashley Rogers snatched up the javelin throw crown, Calley Bergmann won the discus throw and their teammate Jessa Jones won the pole vault. For the Eagles of Axtell they walked away with four first place finishes on the day, including one by their relay team in the 4x800-meter relay. The other three came at the hands of Kelsey Olberding, Hannah Mitchell and Susan Peschal. Olberding dashed her way to victory in the 400-meter dash, Mitchell leaped to a win in the long jump and Peschal won the 3200-meter run. It was the Frankfort boys winning the team crown between the three teams in the boy’s action, as they too won nine events on the day, like the Linn girl’s team. Wildcats finished with 85.5 team points, with Axtell coming in second with 58.5 points and Linn third with 36. Frankfort in their nine event wins saw two individuals’ win multiple event titles on the day. Adam Koch paced his way to wins in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs, while his teammate Jonathan Ippert won the 110-meter hurdles and pole vault crowns. Wildcats would win five other events outside of those four, two more running events and three field events. Calahan Brown helped make it a sweep in the hurdles for Frankfort as he won the 300-meter hurdles, while the Wildcats won the 4x800 relay, also. In the field events it was Jacob Broxterman and Jonathan Keating each throwing their way to victories and Kason Brown leaping his way to one. Broxterman took home first in the shot put and Jonathan Keating won the discus throw, while their teammate Brown leaped to the win in the long jump. Axtell who finished as a team in second, came up with five first place finishes. The Eagles relay team notched two wins taking the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay crowns. While the Eagles would notch wins in the 200, 400 and 800-meter runs, all coming at the hands of three different Eagles athletes. Jared Heiman dashed his way to a win in the 200-meter dash, Jordan Heinen locked up the victory in the 400-meter dash and Aaron Schmelzle won the 800-meter run. For Linn they finished with three first places, two of which were earned by Chad Gross, as he won the both the high and triple jumps. His teammate Kurt Vandermerwe sprinted his way to a win in the 100-meter dash for the other first place finish for the Bulldogs.
