Improvements will be made to a Doniphan County road near Troy.
The Doniphan County Commission Monday accepted the low base bid from Herzog Contracting Corporation of St. Joseph for the resurfacing of Last Chance Road from 150th Road to just north of 180th Road in the amount of $414,878. A two-inch asphalt overlay will be placed on the road.
The commission also accepted an alternate bid from Herzog in the amount of $66,062 for the removal of a super-elevated curve between 180th and Last Chance Roads, which will include the creation of a 4-way intersection.
Herzog was among two companies that submitted bids last week.
The project will be completed using funds through the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Federal Funds Exchange Program.
In other business, it was the consensus of commissioners to take no action on the lone bid received last week for the placement of central air conditioning systems in eight courthouse offices and instead hire a mechanical engineer to design project specifications and re-look at the entire project.
