Richardson County 25-26 FY budget approved

(KLZA)--Richardson County Commissioners conducted a public hearing Tuesday evening to receive comment on the proposed Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget. Only three people attended with Kristy Fisher of rural Stella and Dick James of rural Verdon speaking during the hearing.

Wednesday, during their weekly meeting, the Commissioners conducted a public hearing to receive input related to setting the final property tax request at a different amount than the prior years tax request. No comments were received.

The Board approved the Fiscal Year 25-26 budget document as presented during the Tuesday evening public heairng with a property tax request of $6,180,282, an increase of 3.28% from the previous year, amounting to an additional $196,274.

Of that amount, $250,218 is to pay bonds on the Law Enforcement Center and included $400,000 in Cash Reserves.

The total budget of expenditures approved was $21,191,602, a 10.7% increase totaling an additionmal $2,051,836.

The property tax levy will be 30.03 cents per $100 of assessed valuation for the general / operating budgets , a decrease of nearly 2.7 cents or 8.19%. The jail bond levy will be approximately 1.22 cents per $100 of assessed valuation which is down approximately 4-tenths of a cent.

The total valuation in Richardson County for FY 2025-26 will be $2,057,885,951. That represents an increase of 12.49% totaling $228,622,494.
