Richardson County Commissioners met with Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert Tuesday. He provided a report on the damage done to a bridge northwest of Humboldt last week that was hit by an over width vehicle causing the bridge to collapse.
Huppert also informed Commissioners that M.E. Collins has begun construction on the bridge project on 704 Road.
The Board approved the purchase of a patrol vehicle from Gene Steffy Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge from Fremont where the price has been established by the material division of the Nebraska Department of Administrative Services for a Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 pickup designed for law enforcement special services. The price will be $22,886 for the base package and with added features the cost will be $23,786.
Randy Gilsdorf, steward for the Road Department Union met with Commissioners to finalize the 2011-13 contract. A section concerning insurance and the employee contribution was reviewed further. Gilsdorf will present the new information to the members and respond to the Board next week.
A public hearing is scheduled for May 1st at 11 a-m for the inclusion of the corporate limits of the Village of Verdon into the Verdon Rural Fire District.
No action was taken on the interlocal agreement with the Southeast Nebraska Area Drug Enforcement Task Force. Further discussion is planned for next week.
