A 52 year old Effingham man facing contempt charges for failing to appear in a civil matter related to his turbine business turns himself in and bonds out.
According to Atchison County Sheriff John Calhoon, Christopher Thompson posted a one thousand dollar bond 25 minutes after turning himself in Friday morning to the Sheriff’s Office.
Thompson has been ordered by civil courts both in Atchison and Brown Counties to pay judgments in several cases regarding his turbine business Renewable Energy Technologies.
Judge Robert Bednar issued the warrant for contempt of court on March 30th in Atchison County District Court.
He was supposed to show cause, if any, why he should not be placed on trial for allegedly owing 30 thousand dollars in back loans to Exchange National Bank of Atchison.
Wayne and Constance Hale have won a journal entry of judgment against Thompson for failure to comply with a city ordinance passed late last year.
Jennifer Bourdreaux won the same judgment against Thompson and his wife Kathy for non-payment of 25 hundred dollars of wages.
She was once the secretary for their company.
Hammersmith Manufacturing of Horton is also due over 87 hundred dollars as part of a renewal judgment from earlier this month in Brown County District Court for towers manufactured for him in 2010.
Thompson is scheduled to make his next appearance on the contempt charges April 20th.
