Each year, the National Right to Life Committee holds an educational program for college students who are passionate about right-to-life issues.
This year, Benedictine College sophomore Ian O'Hagan has been selected to attend this symposium.
Held in Washington, D.C., during the summer, the National Right to Life Academy is a unique, five-week academic program.
Each of the lecture and discussion-based courses are interspersed with concentrated “practicum” exercises in which students practice rebutting pro-abortion and pro-death arguments in the form of presentations, mock lobbying and media interviews.
The hands-on training offered in the daily practicum exercises is the core of the Academy training, as it allows students to develop skills to better communicate the pro-life position in real-life situations.
Students’ receive daily one-on-one feedback and evaluation from course instructors as well as observe video-footage of their own presentations.
The intensive summer course is held at the National Right to Life office in Washington, D.C., and taught primarily by NRLC staff.
