Johnson County commissioners have unanimously approved a special use permit that allows for construction of a 100-million dollar wind farm in the western part of the county, from near Sterling to Crab Orchard.
With the approval, Chicago-based company Invenergy can now begin its project, which includes building 37 wind turbines that can produce up to 60 megawatts of electricity. The construction of the wind farm will create jobs and produce renewable energy to support thousands of homes.
