Lawsuit Filed Over Nebraska Lethal Injection Drug
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ A lawsuit by the former pharmacy director
for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says she was
fired, in part, for refusing to order a lethal injection drug.
The lawsuit is the latest dust-up over the state's attempts to
secure one of three drugs used in Nebraska's lethal injection
procedure.
The Lincoln Journal Star reports that Dianne Booker also says in
her lawsuit that she was fired in October after taking medical
leave and reporting security breaches by her superiors.
Booker says she refused to find a supply of sodium thiopental,
noting there is no Federal Drug Administration-approved distributor
and that she could lose her pharmaceutical license by getting it
from a unapproved source.
The Nebraska Attorney General's response to the lawsuit denies
all of Booker's allegations.
