Grimm's Makes Monday Morning Move
The former Frontier Farm Credit Building, once located on the west edge of Hiawatha, is now located at its new home, near Morrill, following the purchase of the structure by Grimm's Gardens for use as additional space.
The move was made Monday morning, along U.S. Highway 36, starting shortly after 9:00.
Traffic, on the route, did incur delays, as the large structure took up the bulk of the roadway.
Sheriff John Merchant says the highway had to be shutdown, to make the move happen safely, and was reopened around 10:10. He says the public was patient, and voices his appreciation for the cooperation of the area motorists.
Originally set to happen last Thursday, the relocation of the building had to be postponed based on the lack of available Westar Energy crews who were working to restore power to storm ravaged sections of the state.
Available for the Monday morning move, the energy company crews had to oversee, and handle, the power lines in the path of the building, as it was transported on the highway.
