A dangerous " S" curve on a Brown County road will be straightened out.
The Brown County Commission today ( Monday ) accepted the low bid from Leavenworth Excavating in the amount of $156,102 for the project on Kestrel Road, south of Padonia.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says the bid was $20,000 more than they had estimated. It was among five bids opened on February 22nd. KDOT must also approve the bid.
County Commission Chairman Steve Roberts says the project will improve the safety of the road...( play audio )
The county will be responsible for 10 percent of the project cost or around $17,300.
In other business, bids were opened for rights to harvest about 22 acres of brome hay at the county landfill during the 2012 season.
The commission accepted the high bid from Russ Stover in the amount of $1,320. That's $370 more than the county received last year.
It was among five bids received.
