The National Weather Service will hold a storm spotter meetings in several area northeast Kansas communities this month and next.
The first meeting will take place Monday evening ( February 13th) in Seneca at 7 p.m. at the Pioneer Annex, which is the former Nemaha Valley Junior High School, located at 710 Pioneer. You should enter through the north doors.
In addition, storm spotter meetings are scheduled Tuesday ( Feb. 14th ) in Meriden at the Jeff West Grade School; February 21st in Horton at the High School auditorium; February 29th in Hiawatha at the Fisher Community Center; March 7th in Holton at the Jackson County Senior Citizens Building and March 21st in Frankfort at the Annunciation Cigna Center.
All the meetings will be at 7 p.m.
Every year, the National Weather Service in Topeka presents spotter talks which are open to the general public. The presentations are typically 1 to 1 ½ hours long, and are given by a meteorologist from the office.
Safety information will be provided as well as examples of various types of severe storms that impact Kansas each year.
