(KAIR)--There was no reported rape in Jackson County, Kansas.
That word from Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse following what he says was confusion between Jackson County, Missouri and Jackson County, Kansas.
According to Morse, his office has received phone calls from the public inquiring about a rape in the Jackson County Jail.
In an alert issued Wednesday, Morse clarifies that no such incident occurred at the jail, located in Holton.
WIBW reports that nearly two dozen female inmates have been removed from the Missouri jail after two women said they were sexually assaulted by one or more male inmates who somehow got into the victims' cells.
The alleged rape reportedly occurred Friday.
