(KNZA)--A Horton man was injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle wreck in Brown County near the intersection of U.S. 73 Highway and Prairie Road.
Brown County Sheriff John Merchant says 55-year-old Billy Richardson was westbound on Highway 73 on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when an eastbound Saturn Ion driven by 69-year-old Everest resident Kayrol Reese attempted to turn onto Prairie Road and failed to yield to the motorcycle. Richardson struck the passenger side rear of the car, causing him to be ejected.
Richardson, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck, was flown from the scene to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City with what were described as disabling injuries.
Reese, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not hurt. Merchant says she was issued a citation for failure to yield.
U.S. 73 was shut down for a short period of time following the wreck around 9 Wednesday night.
Assisting at the scene were the Everest Fire Department, Horton EMS, Kickapoo Police Department, Sac and Fox Police Department and Brown County Rescue Squad.
