(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Relay For Life has come and gone, with the 9th annual American Cancer Society fundraiser held last week in Seneca. “Our goal is to raise money to research to eventually find a cure for cancer,” Relay For Life committee member Leslie Beasley told MSC News leading up to the event. Raise money they did, with more than $56,000 generated through a variety of fundraising efforts, including a silent auction held during the relay, which ran from Friday evening until early Saturday morning.
Operating under a superhero theme, “Be Somebody's Hero,” a post on the official Facebook page calls all who gave support to the cause, from survivors and caregivers to the relay teams, volunteers, and corporate sponsors, superheroes in their own right.
