(KLZA)-- The Nemaha Natural Resources District Board of Directors examined a budget proposal for the next fiscal year when they met last week in Tecumseh. The new year started July 1, however, final revenue figures are not expected until after mid-August.
Major projects for the new year include the Duck Creek dam construction and associated road work near Peru and Steamboat Trace Trail surface drainage improvements. Board members will get a final look at revenues in August and prepare final budget numbers for public comment in September. Board members did vote unanimously to increase the restricted fund allowance by an additional one percent as allowed.
An agreement allowing Herr Farms Inc. to irrigate from reservoir, Long Branch 73 north of Humboldt was approved for 10 years. Another landowner transferred their right to irrigate to Herr Farms. An irrigation transfer request from Jay Gerdes was approved in Nemaha County.
Two new well permits for Dave Bohling in Nemaha County were approved. The two wells will be comingled for a rate of 600 gallons per minute. If one of the wells is sufficient, the second may not be drilled.
No action was taken on the Fiscal Year 2016 small dams or an agreement to accept a charitable donation of property along the Steamboat Trace.
