(KAIR)--Numerous motorists hit the road for the Fourth of July weekend, and the Kansas Highway Patrol reports that for the most part, most drove safely.
The Patrol reports that there were two fatal wrecks, and officials have determined that alcohol did not play a part in either crash.
In total, the Patrol made 14 DUI related arrests, which is down from the 27 that were made last year.
Troopers also issued 685 speeding citations, down from the 969 they issued last year, and adult seatbelt citations also improved from last year. Only 101 were issued, compared to 231 that were given last year.
The Patrol also assisted 1,081 motorists on Kansas roadways during the four day holiday weekend.
