(KNZA)--Fireworks are legal only at the Hiawatha City Lake again this year. This year, you may legally start shooting off fireworks, July 2 from 8am until 10pm, then July 3rd and 4th, from 8am until midnight.
Any fireworks that are set off inside the incorporated city limits of Hiawatha must be confiscated and the possessor will be cited.
Please be respectful of others if you plan to celebrate with fireworks in legal areas. If the police department or fire department can clarify any laws or answer questions, please don't hesitate to call and have a happy and safe 4th.
