(AP)-- The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Nebraska and northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri from 7 o’clock Thursday evening through 1 o’clock Friday afternoon.
Counties in southeast Nebraska included in the watch are Richardson, Pawnee, Nemaha, Johnson, Otoe, Gage, Jefferson and Saline counties.
Counties in northeast Kansas included in the watch are Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Marshall and Nemaha.
In northwest Missour, Holt and Atchison counties are included in the watch.
The Weather Service says widespread thunderstorms will cause heavy rainfall with 1 to 2 inches of rain possible through the night. The potential for thunderstorms with heavy rain tonight will bring the risk of flash flooding. Area streams, creeks and smaller rivers may reach or exceed their banks. Flooding may occur in low lying areas.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
