(KNZA)--An Elwood woman charged in connection with the stabbing death of a St. Joseph man in April appeared in a Buchanan County courtroom Monday for arraignment.
43-year-old Kelli Hoard is among three individuals charged with second-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Richard Berry.
The St. Joseph News Press reports a judge set a July 17th hearing for a trial in the case.
Berry’s body was found in the Third Fork of the Platte River near Easton, Missouri April 25th. Authorities believe he was taken to the remote location in a robbery attempt. Berry was stabbed multiple times and then dumped in the river. Court documents allege Hoard used two knives to stab Berry.
She remains in the Buchanan County Jail, held without bond after a judge ruled she posed a danger to the community.
