(KNZA)--A new track will be installed at Jackson Heights High School and improvements made to the football field.
The Holton Recorder reports the USD 335 Board of Education this week approved a proposal from Wichita-based United Sports Systems to remove the old track and install a new six-lane asphalt track with a half-inch rubberized surface for a base bid of just over $389,000. However, with additions and modifications suggested by the board, the final cost to the district will be closer $420,000.
The additional work will include improvements to the football field—including installation of new drainage, re-grading the field, new sod and installation of an irrigation system.
The Board has been looking at renovating the district’s track for the past few years which has fallen into disrepair and has prevented the district from hosting any track meets.
The new track is to be in place before the start of the 2015-16 school year.
