(MSC News)--The latest round of torrential rain has led to the issuance of local flood warnings.
A Flood Warning is now in effect for the Kansas Counties of northeastern Atchison and Doniphan, along with the Missouri Counties of Buchanan and northern Platte until 11:30 Friday morning. That comes as local law enforcement and Transportation Department officials reported Thursday night that numerous state and county roads remain impassible due to high water from recent thunderstorms. Additional rainfall is expected overnight and may maintain or lead to additional water rises.
A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 4:30 Friday morning for the Kansas Counties of Jackson, southern Nemaha, and Pottawatomie.
The National Weather Service Thursday placed Brown County under a Flood Warning. Emergency Management and trained spotters reported areas of flooding, with Walnut Creek to the north of Hiawatha out of its banks and Wolf River near Robinson running bankfull with a lot of water still in area fields.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northern Doniphan County, in Kansas, and for two Missouri Counties, Holt and western Andrew. It will remain in place until 1:30 Friday morning.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon for the local Kansas Counties of Atchison, Doniphan, Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Marshall, Nemaha and Pottawatomie.
Local Missouri Counties included in the watch are Buchanan, Holt, Platte and Andrew.
Local southeast Nebraska counties included are Richardson, Nemaha, Pawnee, Johnson, Otoe and Gage.
Also, the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill Mo has issued a flood warning for the following rivers in Kansas...Missouri... Missouri River at St Joseph affecting Doniphan...Andrew and Buchanan Counties. Missouri River at Atchison affecting Atchison...Buchanan and Platte Counties from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 22.2 feet Friday evening.
* At 22.0 feet...Low-lying areas on the Missouri side of the river begin to flood.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill Mo has issued a * Flood Warning for The Missouri River at St Joseph. * from late tonight to late Sunday night. * At 9:30 AM Thursday the stage was 14.7 feet. * Flood stage is 17.0 feet. * Minor flooding is forecast. * Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Friday morning and continue to rise to near 19.5 feet by early Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood stage by early Sunday morning. * At 19.0 feet...Backwater from the Missouri River floods property along the Nodaway river at Nodaway, Missouri. * At 17.0 feet...Lowland flooding upstream and downstream from St. Joseph occurs.
A Flood Warning is also issued for the Missouri River at Rulo, Nebraska and the Missouri River at Leavenworth.
The National Weather Service Thursday issued a flood warning for Turkey Creek near Seneca. It's expected to remain in place until 1:00 Saturday morning.
Early Friday morning a Flood Warning was issued for the Big Blue River near Marysville, in Marshall County.
The Weather Service Wednesday issued a flood warning for the Delaware River near Muscotah. The warning is expected to remain in place through Thursday evening.
The Weather Service has also issued a flood warning for Stranger Creek, at Easton, affecting Atchison and Leavenworth Counties. It will remain in place until Friday evening.
