(KAIR)--A Kansas City man who managed to elude Atchison police after a short foot pursuit in March is now in custody.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says the chase followed a vehicle pursuit that stemmed from a traffic stop. The vehicle fled north to Harper Drive, then west to K-7 where it went a short distance before stopping. A passenger then exited the vehicle and fled into the darkness. A foot pursuit followed, but the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Blaine Walker, was not apprehended.
Wilson says the investigation determined that the 19-year-old female driver fled from police because Walker allegedly threatened her with a gun. In addition, the investigators allege that Walker dropped what appeared to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia as he ran.
A warrant was issued for Walker's arrest, and he was taken into custody Monday morning at a residence in the 300 block of North Seventh Street. He was booked into the Atchison County Jail on charges including aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
