Hiawatha Man Sentenced on Child Sex Charges
06/01/2015

(KNZA)--A Hiawatha man convicted on two felony child sex charges has been sentenced to more than 8 years in prison.

43-year-old Lonnie Johansen was sentenced Monday in Brown County District Court to 100 months in prison on a charge of electronic solicitation of a child born in 2002 and to 32 months in prison on a charge of sexual exploitation of a child involving the possession of child pornography.

District Judge John Weingart ordered the sentences to be served concurrently and gave Johansen credit for 234 days served in jail.    He will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Johansen pleaded no contest to the charges last month as part of a plea agreement, canceling a jury trial that had been set for this month.

He was arrested last October following an investigation by the Hiawatha Police Department.
