(KLZA)-- The Nebraska legislative session closed Friday. The historic session included the repeal of Nebraska’s death penalty. Action that 1st District State Senator Dan Watermeier was not in favor of, calling the death penalty a necessary tool in protecting the safety of Nebraskans.
Watermeier says he was pleased that Senators were able to support property tax relief during the session. He also noted the Medical Marijuana proposal had too many questions for passage. Those questions included how manufactures would access the medical cannabis and how the Department of Health and Human Services would determine a range of recommended dosages for each qualifying condition.
Senator Tommy Garrett who sponsored the legislation asked for the proposal to be bracketed for this year.
Senator Watermeier represents Richardson, Nemaha, Pawnee, Johnson and Otoe County.
