(KNZA)--Local FFA Chapters received national recognition at the Kansas FFA Convention held last week in Manhattan, on the K-State Campus.

The National Chapter Awards are awarded in three divisions: student development, chapter development, and community development.

Those are based on an FFA chapter's work in established areas, or “quality standards,” based on each chapter's Program of Activities.

During the 87th annual convention, awards were presented in the student development division, with first place honors going to the Holton FFA Chapter.

Other local chapters recognized were Marysville, with 6th place, Doniphan West in 7th, and Hiawatha in 18th place.

The community development winners have also been announced, and local winners include Holton, in 5th place, Marysville in 6th, Doniphan West ranked 9th, while Hiawatha earned 15th place.

Local FFA chapters earning a place in the Gold Division of the National Chapter Awards for Chapter Development are Doniphan West, Holton, and Marysville.

Marysville FFA team members this week also took first place state honors in the Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event, meaning they demonstrated proficiency in proper procedure to efficiently run a meeting.
